The Paricatuba Lab project: strengthening tourism, culture and local business

Paricatuba Lab, led by Impact Hub Manaus, was born in 2024 to support entrepreneurship, the impact economy and sustainable development in the Amazon region. Starting from listening to the community, the project has been building, together with residents, new possibilities for local development that value the identity, knowledge and way of life of the territory.

Along the way, the project has carried out community-strengthening actions, workshops, partnerships and strategies focused on community-based tourism, valuing historical and cultural heritage, strengthening local businesses and creating new opportunities for the village.

The project is supported by partners such as Sebrae, Singulari Consultoria, Bemol, Centro Social de Paricatuba, Grupo de Apoio Vila de Paricatuba and Iguana Turismo, who help build integrated solutions for the economic and sustainable development of the territory.

The Paricatuba Lab journey has three main moments: in 2024, the awakening and mobilization of the community, strengthening listening, trust and recognition of local potential; in 2025, putting practical actions in place, such as opening the ruins’ ticket office, bringing in new institutional partners and organizing local tourism; and in 2026, expanding the project with a tourism management strategy built on four core pillars:

• Governance and strengthening of the Community Center;
• Memory, heritage and cultural identity;
• Business and entrepreneurship;
• Community-based tourism.

More than strengthening tourism, Paricatuba Lab seeks to support a sustainable community model, where economic development, cultural preservation and community leadership go hand in hand.
